October Songs

When Bob Dylan released 'Mother of Muses' in June 2020, I was reminded of an older song, 'Father of Night' from New Morning. Released fifty years earlier in October 1970, it is the last song on Dylan's eleventh studio album, and one which sparked my interest in Dylan's use of nocturnal imagery, a theme which had found its way into my Midwinter Muses and Motifs exhibition (2018) and inspired this series of artworks, where dreams, mystery and shadows reside.

May’s paintings are available for purchase as original works, or as limited edition archival prints. Contact May/see Store.
